Today the settlement they founded is called
Inner Arosa.
Here the skiing is varied and excellent, but it is the
village itself and its surrounds that make the visit so
special. There are still farming families in the village.
As you put your skis on in the morning and head to the
lift, you can sometimes see Brunold Hitta, one of the
two remaining sheep-herders, letting his 20 sheep from
their winter barn.
After an energetic morning on the slopes, our favorite
lunch spot is the Stuva (stable), a converted old stable
made comfortable and cosy inside with a long sunny
verandah. A relaxed restaurant by day it serves hot
soups, homemade pizzas, fresh pasta and grilled veal
sausages...
