summer visitors, and rightly so. They are fresh,
simple wines that go well with the food and the
climate.
All that has begun to change. One night at da Tito in
San Pantaleo, Tito recommended a marvellous white
wine from a vineyard not far away. It was made from
vermentina grapes and had been well-aged in oak
barrels to produce an exceptional wine of character
and complexity. It turned out that Tito knew the
family who owned the vineyard well -- that was how
he was able to get a supply of the wine, as it was in
great demand.
A few days later, he arranged for us to visit the
vineyard, the Tenuta di Capichera. The Ragnedda
family had been growing grapes there for over 100
years, yet the big change came about about 25 years
ago with Alberto Regnedda....
