A Swiss Alpine Wedding
I went to a most wonderful wedding in the Swiss Alps. The wedding was on an Alp, in central Switzerland. The fields around us were full of wild flowers making it a carpet of colour. We sat on hay bails under umbrellas. The young couple was wed under the sun with the local ‘yodel choir’ singing incredibly harmonious songs. It all just fitted in so perfectly. The choir wore their traditional dress, all embroidered. The lead singer, the only lady had such an intricate top on. There were two ‘Alphorn blaeser’ playing the instruments, with the goats watching on the side. The flowers
Samson is Making Pasta
It is fun and rewarding to involve the children in the preparation of food. They would often try the dishes they have prepared themselves much more readily, than when just presented with the finished dish. Samson is a picky eater, so I try and involve him as much as possible in the preparation of food. here he makes pasta, using: • 220gr white flour • a pinch of salt • 2 organic eggs • if you want a healthier version, use spelt flour instead of white flour • he mixes flour, eggs and salt • kneads the dough until smooth

The dough gets pulled and laid over a hard cushion and then slapped to the edges of the big oven that is situated in the ground. The old lady gave me her recipe for the bread, saying that traditionally they would not use yeast but let the dough ‘collect’ the natural yeast in the

Whole Grain Bread
Today I made this delicious ‘Brot’. I used different grains than my usual ‘Walser Brot’, and I think it works very well.
