I was very impressed by the architecture of Copenhagen.
There is such a mix of buildings, from the 17th century mansions and palaces to the 19th century traditional houses in the most vibrant colours of red, yellow, blue, pinks and orange. Then you have the very modern buildings designed by Danes, many now leading international Architects.
I cycled around the whole city, along their bicycle only pathways. It is the best way to get around.
Another attractive way is to take one of the wide boats that go along the canals.
Danish food is very focused on local, organic and fresh. The markets are full of wonderful fish, fresh and smoked, meats, sausages and salamis. Their bread is absolutely delicious, dark and full of grains. Even their ‘ focaccia’ is made with wholemeal flour, with grains mixed through.I absolutely loved their ‘Smorrebrod’, an open sandwich topped with smoked fish, baby prawns, eggs, smoked meats or livers. Always beautifully decorated and irresistible.
