Prague and its spa towns
The centre of Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, is one of the gems of Europe .
Well preserved set of buildings, mediaeval in the centre and radiating out from there with classical architecture of following centuries.
It is a beautiful city to walk round, There are many squares big and small. Car-free zones make walking a real pleasure and the buildings from street level have a marvellous scale and consistency.
The history of the city is long and rich and is on display wherever you look.
Music seems to being played in every second church you pass!
Out in the countryside, the best preserved areas seem to be the famous old spa towns. They are set on rivers where the health-giving springs were situated and seem to have a classical ‘vacation’ architecture with lots of rather ornate buildings, many in wood.
