TURKMENISTAN – TRAVELLING

By Manuela | October 3, 2010 | InBlog, Travel Journal, Travelling, Turkmenistan

Markets and People

The people of Turkmenistan are friendly and open , the women dressed in colourful traditional dresses. The big market outside the capital Ashgabat is regarded as perhaps the best in Central Asia . It appears you can buy or sell almost anything there and it’s all on display, from hair pins to camels, to their treaditional sheeps skin hats.

Landscapes

In an arid and flat landscape one or two historic buildings have been reconstructed rising spectacularly from the surrounding sands. The capital, Ashgabat, has recently been completely rebuilt with a centre made from acres of white Italian marble punctuated with grand monuments celebrating the countries leaders past and present.
